Amy Rees concentrates her practice in estate planning, business succession, tax planning, special needs planning, and estate and trust administration. Amy brings extensive experience in creating and drafting estate plans to help her clients preserve family wealth and their legacies. She provides personalized advice to individuals and families to help them navigate the complexities of different types of estate planning, resulting in a tailored plan for her clients’ unique needs.
Amy’s estate planning experience includes drafting wills, trusts, financial powers of attorney, and healthcare directives. She focuses on getting to know her clients, their situation, any challenges, and/or family dynamics. After listening to her clients, she takes the time to educate them on how the recommended estate plan will achieve their goals and provide them with peace of mind.
Amy believes preparing legal documents that express your financial and healthcare wishes is important for anyone, regardless of your net worth or age. Also, formally expressing your intentions can help eliminate unnecessary tension between family members, as well as the need for court involvement in decision-making.
Amy also has over twenty years of experience in estate and trust administration. Throughout her career, she has developed a deep understanding of the legal, financial, and emotional aspects involved in administering estates and trusts efficiently and in accordance with the decedent’s wishes or the grantor’s directives. She is committed to providing clear and practical advice in a compassionate and competent manner to executors and trustees. She counsels them through the rules and timelines involved in the administration, helps in valuing assets, prepares and files the Pennsylvania inheritance tax return, and assists with resolving disputes that may arise during the administration process. In the event clients do end up in a dispute over their estate or trust, Amy works closely with Marcus & Shapira’s litigation team to protect their rights in court. The firm has extensive experience successfully litigating high-stakes cases involving family trusts.
